This is me
This is me, Keri, the face and small business owner behind Gemma Fabrics.
I’ve known for a long time that I wanted my own business one day. I also love making things and obsess over fiber arts (primarily knitting at the moment). And for some unknown reason, I have always enjoyed working in retail.
So when I heard a story about a secondhand fabric store in Massachusetts, there were all sorts of alarms going off in my head. I needed to go there to shop, I needed to meet this person, and I wanted something like that here in my community.
Well, I checked the first two off the list. I took a road trip to Swanson’s Fabrics with my mom and uncle during a visit home last spring and left with a few new-to-me goodies. I met Kathryn on that same trip, and continue to chat regularly with her and others about this business model over on the Fiber Arcade.
And last but certainly not least, that crazy third idea is in progress. There is a well stocked storage unit, a live website, active email subscribers, and even followers here on Instagram already paying attention to Gemma Fabrics. It’s surreal and makes me sick to my stomach some days in the very best way possible because it’s actually happening.
So grateful to have you here. Please reach out to let me know how I can help!
