Hand Sewing Workshop - Birdie Plushie

Skill Level: This class is an intro to hand sewing but all skills are welcomed.

This workshop is designed for those wanting to try hand sewing without committing to a major project. Learn basic hand sewing skills while making a bird plushie, suitable for a cat toy or merely decoration.

Skills covered include learning the running stitch and the blanket stitch, the use of seam allowances, how to read pattern markings, and basic construction tips.

Discussion about fabric choices and embellishments will also be covered. More experienced sewists will thoroughly enjoy playing with the assortment of scrappy materials available during the workshop!

All materials provided but please bring small, sharp thread scissors or snips. 

The original pattern used for this workshop was designed by Michael Fulkerson and comes with a great history. In memory of this local fiber artist, 15% of ticket sales will go to The Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
